We just rolled out 1100 iPads to individual students in our nine schools. The distribution was tracked through an excel spreadsheet. This has been rather tedious and time consuming. We have to track…Continue

These include MDM, security, charging, professional development, and digital curriculum. If your school or district is implementing iPads, please take a few minutes to fill out the survey. I will send a copy of the results to anyone that fills out the survey and includes their email in the responses. Please pass on to…See More

"Obviously you posted this a long time ago, but I'm curious if you have figured out the most efficient way of managing your iPad assets? It is a real challenge."

Mike Guerena commented on Sam Gliksman's blog post Evaluating Apple's Foray into the Textbook Market
"You can use 3D models built into Sketchbook and embed into a book created in iBooks author. There will be a lot of time needed for putting together content. I am wondering what the free/open source market will look like. Technically you do not need…"

Mike Guerena commented on Sam Gliksman's blog post Evaluating Apple's Foray into the Textbook Market
"I did not see specifics on the school purchasing of books through the iBooks store. This has been a challenge up to this point, as the books cannot be purchased with volume purchasing. We are looking at Overdrive for buying and managing books right…"

iPad Assett Management Solutions

We just rolled out 1100 iPads to individual students in our nine schools. The distribution was tracked through an excel spreadsheet. This has been rather tedious and time consuming. We have to track students, school, iPad assett tag number, whether student has insurance to cover damage when away from school, etc. Any suggestions on automating the process so that it is not so time consuming.See More

Mike Guerena commented on Sam Gliksman's blog post AirPlay: The Hidden Gem for Educators in iOS 5
"I agree that AirPlay will be killer for projecting iPads for both teacher and student. Either Apple or a third party developer needs to create a connection for AirPlay to the Mac so that the iPad can mirror onto a computer that is connected to the…"

Mike Guerena replied to Sam Gliksman's discussion Is There a Minimum Age for 1:1 Computing in School?
"Sam, we have only had iPads for a week. Our K teachers are working off what they have discovered themselves in the way of apps, as well as what they learned at CUE. They will be trying out different uses with K students over next several weeks, but…"

Mike Guerena replied to Sam Gliksman's discussion Is There a Minimum Age for 1:1 Computing in School?
"Our Kindergarten teachers who received iPads were skeptical before the had them about using them with their students. Now they have had some hands on time, they are pushing for 1:1 access at their grade level."

Mike Guerena commented on Sam Gliksman's blog post Can Your iPad Replace Your SmartBoard?
"I am interested in this topic as we have been exploring the iPad as a means for the teacher to be mobile while still interacting with the students. Fortunately we have not made a large investment in IWBs. They are a good technology for creating…"

Mike Guerena replied to Sam Gliksman's discussion Is the relative lack of teacher control over student iPad use a relief or a recipe for disaster?
"Surprisingly no one has mentioned the real positive that this technology will provide. If teachers can access all the iPad screens in the classroom, they should be able to project what is ever on the screens. This will enable a student to be able to…"
