Transforming Teaching and Learning With iPads

One of the great things I’ve noticed in the last 2 years is how my teaching has evolved with the use of the iPads.  It’s been a gradual shift, but the way I am using them now is different than the first pilot year in 2011.In the beginning, I was focused on integrating the iPads into our day and was very much “app” oriented.  We had a lot of success that first year and my …See More

A Bet's a Bet

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in new eyes.” -Marcel ProustA recent conversation between 2 of my students went something like this:“I saw a python in my yard over spring break.”“No way! Pythons don’t live here.”“Yeah huh I really did. I bet you $10.  Have you ever seen one?”“No. Only on tv.”“Dude, come look on my iPad. I will show you one.”At that point, they went over to their iPads. They promptly opened up Safari, Google-searched pythons and went…See More

"We use PaperPort at my school.  It's a free app and it isn't blocked by our district filters.  Students can't really save data securely on the iPad.  If it is being shared, then all students would have access to the…"
