"We're using an mdm setup from Absolute software. We have about 500 ipads deployed between carts, 1:1 and staff. I built a policy that when it detects that one of profiles are removed, the ipad is locked down. The app store is gone as well as…"

"From my understanding, you can set up the device management system so that if the profiles are deleted then any internet access is deleted and the iPads don't right quite as they should. I think that this is done so that the devices can be…"

Mobile Device Management

I'm currently running into an issue with Mobile Device Management in Lion Server with remotely managing the new 30 unit iPad cart our school just purchased. I'm able to attached the iPad's to the MDM server and the profile applies just fine. But I'm able to easily REMOVE the profile(s) from the iPad without the need for a password, even though I've configured one. Three profiles get applied. 1) The organization profile 2nd) The Remote Management profile 3rd) the iPad specific settings I've…See More

"Have you tried Rover? It is a free app that was made specifically for educators. It is a streaming browser that has no problems with Flash websites, so it may work with Java sites too. Check it out. http://www.theroverapp.com/about/"

"Splash Web Browser by Splashtop Inc. claims that it supports java and flash. It has a three and a half star rating, but most of the reviews were good. I just downloaded it but haven't had a chance to try it out."

How to get around Java....

Hi...I've been pushing for the last couple of months for our school to invest in iPad's to replace our aging mobile laptop cart. One of the primary area's that curent laptops are used is in a science lab. Most of the web sites they visit are java based for doing science calculations, etc. How are others getting around this? Are you getting around it? Or is it not practical for me to continue to push iPad's as a replacement for these laptops?I appreciate any advice and discussion you can give to…See More
