Share 'How to get around Java....'

Hi... I've been pushing for the last couple of months for our school to invest in iPad's to replace our aging mobile laptop cart. One of the primary area's that curent laptops are used is in a science lab. Most of the web sites they visit are java based for doing science calculations, etc.  How are others getting around this? Are you getting around it? Or is it not practical for me to continue…
