Those that have ipad devices in classrooms, what are you using for theft protection - or is there no such thing?

There are iPad carts and cabinets that protect iPads from theft as well as sync and charge them.  Check out www.ipadcarts.com if you'd like to research this.  I also came across an article regarding theft prevention of iPads that might interest you: http://tabadapt.com/?p=496

Multiple layers of security are best. To begin with, we have classroom carts from Bretford. Teachers must inventory all iPads each day before leaving while checking that they are all plugged into the charger. The cart is locked with a padlock. Next, the room is locked by the teacher upon leaving for the day. The building is equipped with security cameras and a good access control system that logs everyone entering the building with a key fob. This should keep the honest people from temptation. As for the bad guys, we have all devices insured through our property insurance policy.

I have seen the video of people stealing iPads from bretford carts without even using tools. We have a bretford sync and charge iPad cart. The open design sides are very flimsy and you can bend it with your bare hands and reach inside and pull out ipads. The lock on the door is useless. This will be the last cart we purchase from Apple/Bretford.
