I have found a very good application for taking notes called Note Taker HD, whose author is a bit of a computing legend - Dan Bricklin, the creator of VisiCalc. The Edit 2 view allows you to work on a blow up of a section of a page. Any file of notes can be sent as a PDF file to others. I am fairly sure this will cause me to purchase a stylus as opposed to using my fat fingers.

Web searching couldn't be faster or simpler and it's definitely one of the strengths of the iPad. My favorite apps are the Google app and Wolfram Alpha. They start instantly and results are prompt - perfect for classroom use.

Someone pointed out an app called Muscle System Pro that would be great for advanced Biology classes. I'm showing it to our Science Dept head tomorrow.

Turns out there's actually a series of these apps for different topics including skeletal system, digestive system and more. Well worth the small investment.

Really liking the new Docs2Go app for the iPad. It supports documents from a a variety of sources including Google Docs and Drop Box. You can also edit your Google Docs.

Have you tried the Frog Dissection app for the ipad? This app is apt for stress free dissections. If you are a person who has formalin allergies or feel uneasy about live dissections, you will love this app. Check out http://www.punflay.com/frog-dissection-appstore.html.

PDF-notes has become a favorite app of mine. This allows you to annotate over any pdf document just like you are writing on a SMART Board. You can choose different colors, erase and undo to write over top of any worksheet, picture or text.

On MACs, you can easily convert any file (Word/PowerPoint) to a pdf using print-save as pdf any document. Windows users, need to download a free pdf converter, like primopdf.

To add a pdf
1. Hook up your ipad to your computer
2. In Itunes, click on the apps tab
3. Scroll to the bottom of the window, click on pdf-notes
4. Click add and find you pdf
5. Apply and Sync.

My kids in preK and 2nd grade love the free app Storykit. They record their voice and then draw pictures with their hands. It is digital storytelling. We now have several books all written and recorded by them.

The Algebra Easel app (free) provides short quizzes, video and audio tutorials, and space to solve problems on your own for a variety of Algebra topics.
