iPad Asset Management Solutions

We just rolled out 1100 iPads to individual students in our nine schools. The distribution was tracked through an excel spreadsheet. This has been rather tedious and time consuming. We have to track students, school, iPad assett tag number, whether student has insurance to cover damage when away from school, etc. Any suggestions on automating the process so that it is not so time consuming.

Obviously you posted this a long time ago, but I'm curious if you have figured out the most efficient way of managing your iPad assets? It is a real challenge.
