iPads in Education

Exploring the use of iPads and mobile devices in education.

I know this has been discussed, but I'm struggling to figure out which iPad cases would be best for my class set (15 iPad 2's for High School students). So far, we're on day #3 and already one iPad has a hairline crack. I know the OtterBox cases offer wonderful protection, but they are pricey (which - in the long run - it might just be very worth it, so looking for opinions). Also, need to be able to use the camera and mic with cases on. I am syncing all of my iPads with the Bretford Cart.

Thanks in advance!

We use the minisuit ones.  I think there are several on the market that are similar.  They are just a soft plastic case that goes around the exterior.  No cover for the front though.  Our first and second graders used them last year and they seemed to work well.
Thanks so much, Katie. Really appreciate it!

Hi Stacy, we work with many schools doing iPad deployments and provide solutions for cases needed.  I believe that I'm not allowed to post  our information or product, but if you would like to contact me I would be happy to get you some info:)

Thanks!

The silicone slip-on case is an interesting option. If you are rolling out 75 iPads and you buy 75 $10 cases instead of 75 $40 cases, you just saved enough money to buy 4 or 5 more iPads (replacement iPads). Or, about 20 digitizer replacements (or 40 if you do it yourself)... plus shipping.

Yeah, I would still just rather protect them.

I think I am leaning toward the PROTKETOR cases from ruggedprotection.com. Have not quite ordered them yet, checking into a few details. The company has been quick to reply to emails and voicemails, but I don't like that I can't find any info on them on Youtube etc. I can't find a review by anyone. Another discussion here on ipadeducators suggested that they were going to use the DEFLEKTOR cases for their school. That was the first I had heard of them. But the price is right. Around $25.
