iPads in Education

Exploring the use of iPads and mobile devices in education.

Hello All...

I was wondering if anyone could help and / or point me in the right direction for setting up a new iPad Cart ( 30 iPads ) for use in our school. This is the first set of iPad's we are offering.  The 30 iPad's will be shared among all student's in the school. Its not a 1:1 program.

I already have a set of apps that I plan on using on the iPad's. What I need to know... Is there an easy way to close the 1st iPad to the other 29? Is there a way that if a student changes something or messes up how we have an iPad configured we can easy revert it or restore it?

I also have a MAC Mini Lion Server that I'll soon be upgrading to Mountain Lion Server.

I appreciate any help you can give in advance :)

We purchased a 32 capacity sync and charge cart from Datamation Systems. It's a great cart - very easy to set up and configure. We set up 1 iPad and made a backup in iTunes. From there we restored to the other 31 iPads. When the students return the iPads we use the restore function again. In this manner all the changes the students made are deleted.

Henry....

Thanks so much for the reply... We currently have a Bretford cart that has a capacity of 30 iPad's. Are you able to push a restore over the air through iTunes to the iPads? Or do you have to sync via cable?

We do all of our syncing to iTunes with a wired connection because it is more reliable and secure and does not risk crashing our wireless network.

To get help on wireless syncing, you might try calling the company that provided your cart.  Our cart vendor has been very helpful on any problems or issues, especially in using Configurator.  Somebody at Bretford should be able to walk you through the process.  They should know how their cart works with all that.
