Ergotron Cart - Slow Charge Rate?

We use the Ergotron cart in our classroom to charge and sync the iPad 2s. We find the charge rate of our iPads to be very slow. Is anybody else experiencing this issue?

I just saw a blog post on exactly this issue. It discusses why the number of amps of charge matter in battery charging. One of the comments posted last week reports specifically on the Ergotron cart and explains why it is so slow in charging iPads. It will be even slower when you start adding the new iPads with their bigger batteries.

Wow. You are right. The post on the link you provided says that the Ergotron device only charges at 1 Amp, not the 2.1 Amps required for optimum charging of iPads. I am surprised this is not more widely reported. At that rate, it barely recharges depleted old iPads overnight. I would hate to think what it will do to the battery life.

The specs on the Ergotron web site do note this (in the small print). People should be aware of it.
