iPads in Education

Exploring the use of iPads and mobile devices in education.

Last week while at an Apple Sys Admin seminar they showed this cool trick to add “Send to Itunes” as an option in the PDF section in OSX. This when you select “To Itunes” from the printing menu next time you sync your IOS Device (Ipad, Ipod Touch, Iphone) whatever you selected will be in PDF form and located in Ibooks.

To do this, you will have to know how to create an “Alias” in Mac OSX which you can find here you will also know how to navigate through the filesystem on the Mac.

To get started navigate to your Music folder (Username -> Music) and scroll down to iTunes and than to iTunes Media. Here you will see a folder that says “Automatically Add to ITunes”. This is the folder that we are creating an Alias for.

After you make the alias you need to move it to PDF Services which is located at (/Library/PDF Services) after you move it to this location you can rename it to “To ITunes”

Now after you move the alias “To Itunes” will show up as an option under Printing -> PDF.

How do you transfer pdf’s to your IOS device now?

Thanks
